A 32-year-old Chatham man has been arrested after an alleged domestic assault last night.
Just after 10 p.m. the accused went to his ex-wife’s residence when an argument broke out. When he heard a text message on the woman’s phone, the man grabbed the phone from her and tried to check the message. The two were struggling over the phone, as the women tried to get it back, when the man pinned her on the floor and refused to return it.
When the man heard another resident call 911 he let the woman go and unplugged the phone, disconnecting the call to police. Police arrived shortly after and arrested him. The ex-wife did not need medical attention.
The 32-year-old Chatham man has been charged with theft, assault and forcible confinement. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
