Driver charged after driving 161 km/h on 401

Yesterday a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on highway 401 near Communication Road.

Just before 4:30 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound BMW vehicle that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The radar registered a speed of 161 km/hr.

Alanna Tambur, age 20, from South Bruce, has been charged with racing. Her driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
