A popular high-school teacher tragically fell ill during class at John McGregor Secondary School and has passed away today.
Mr. Kloostra was teaching class and was in another class speaking to a teacher at about 9:45 when he collapsed. Vice Principle Sherman said, “We still do not know the cause. He just dropped. Staff and students tried to apply medical care and ambulances were here fast, however he has passed away.”
Grief counsellors are on the scene at this hour helping students cope with their grief. “The Tragic Events Response Team is here, they have an in-house psychologist who will provide immediate and ongoing support”, said Sherman. “We have our flag at half-mast in respect to his family and friends. Mr. Kloostra was loved and respected by staff.”
