Three impaired charges in dangerous conditions

Dangerous driving conditions didn’t stop these three people from drinking and driving in Chatham.

Yesterday at about 4 p.m. police responded to a collision that occurred on McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham. No-one was injured after a van had struck a city bus, causing about $5,500 in damages. Police detected alcoholic on the driver’s breath, resulting in a 52-year-old Harwich man being charged with impaired driving.

Last night at 8:40 p.m. police stopped a vehicle on Sandy Street in Chatham. The officer noted a strong odor of an alcohol on the drivers breath. A 27-year-old Raleigh Township man was arrested and charged with impaired driving. His vehicle was also seized.

This morning, around 2 a.m., police responded to a call on King Street in Chatham where it was reported that a male person was vomiting out the window of his vehicle. A short time later officers located the vehicle and the highly intoxicated person behind the wheel. A 20-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested for care and control of a vehicle while impaired.
