Teen arrested after trying to pawn bicycle wheels

s police 2An 18-year-old Chatham teen was arrested and charged yesterday after attempting to pawn expensive bicycle wheels. His problem was that the wheels were from a stolen bike.

On January 5th, police went to an address in Tilbury about a break and enter complaint. The complainants garage door was forced open resulting in valuable bicycles and related equipment being stolen from the property.

Yesterday afternoon police were told the suspect was attempting to pawn expensive bicycle wheels. A short time later they located the suspect in the area of King Street and Fifth Street with the bicycle wheels in his possession.

Investigation revealed the bicycle wheels in the male’s possession matched those of the previously reported break and enter. As a result the male was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. He was released with a court date.
