A Blenheim man is facing a slew of charges following a traffic stop on the 11th of January.
At about 6:45 p.m. a Chatham-Kent police officer was travelling on Middle Line when he watched a car pass two other cars at a high-speed. Police then followed the vehicle, which was going 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
When police stopped the car, the officer realized that the driver is serving a lifetime driving prohibition for earlier criminal driving convictions and has a licence suspension for unpaid fines. The vehicle also contained an infant and two passengers who appeared intoxicated.
When the driver was arrested, the officer smelled alcohol coming from his breath. A roadside screening test was conducted.
A 37-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with driving while disqualified, driving while under suspension, and speeding. He was also issued a 3-day licence suspension for having a blood alcohol concentration in the warn range. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
