Last night at about 10 p.m. police arrested a man in Chatham who was in possession of a knife and dog spray, when he was prohibited from having either of them.
Police were at a residence on James Street for a criminal investigation when they saw the man leaving. He was arrested for breaching his probation, which has a provisional curfew from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. and has been in effect since January 27, 2012. He also had a provision not to possess a prohibited or restricted weapon.
The weapons were discovered during his arrest.
The 21-year-old Chatham man has been charged with breach of probation, two counts of possessing prohibited weapons and two counts of possession of unauthorized weapons. He has a bail hearing today.
