Man assaults a woman he is barred from communicating with: police

s police 6Yesterday police charged a man after it was alleged he struck a woman in a vehicle.

The domestic violence has a familiar ring to it for Chatham-Kent police. The same man had been released from police custody with provisions that he not communicate or associate with a Ridgetown woman. His conditions included that he live at a Chatham residence.

On January 15, police had a report of a domestic dispute between the man and woman in Chatham. Police went to find him but were told he no longer lived at the address as prescribed in the conditions of his release. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yesterday morning just before 10 a.m. police found him in Tilbury East Township. The 33-year-old man was arrested and has been charged with one count of assault and two counts of failing to comply. He was taken to court for a bail hearing.
