Kids can learn theatre and film during March break at the Capitol Theatre

Capitol theatreCalling all aspiring actors and theatre performers! The St. Clair College Capitol Theatre has announced a fun, fast-paced, educational March break camp dedicated to the magic of theatre and film.  

This program is a celebration of fun, creativity and imagination. Led by industry professionals, Megan Nuttall and Rachel Schwarz, this one-of-a-kind camp offers an opportunity for young performers to learn all about the basics of acting for film and television. Campers will be introduced to the basics of musical theatre and performing and auditioning for film and television. Instructors will focus on enhancing students’ individual talents through scene study, on-camera techniques, mock commercial auditions and improvisation. Young performers will learn, explore and grow in a safe, fun environment.  

Students will enjoy exciting, hands-on participation in all aspects of the magic and creativity of the performing arts. They’ll write, perform and direct scenes, and each student will take home a DVD of all on-camera work and performances. Spaces are limited in this unique March break camp. The camp runs from March 10 to March 14 (Monday to Friday) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available for an extra fee. The cost of the 5-day camp is $175 inclusive, per child. Children should bring their own lunch and snacks. About Megan Nuttall.

Actress/Singer Megan Nuttall has been working professionally in the musical theatre/film and television industry for the past 8 years. She has traveled to New York, Italy and England and has worked with companies such as CBC, Mirvish Productions, Samo Films, M.A.C, Bell and Orchestra London. Most recently Megan was seen starring in the new musical Blood Ties. She also has two movies due out this summer.

About Rachel Schwarz

Rachel Schwarz is a professional singer and music instructor with over a decade of experience. She has a B.Mus and M.Mus from the University of Western Ontario in vocal performance, and has studied theatre at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York, NY. Her singing has taken her around Canada, the US and Europe, most recently appearing in the opera, Dido and Aeneas in the United Kingdom. Rachel maintains a busy private voice studio in Chatham, and is the director of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Chorus. This summer, Rachel will be performing in a concert series in Munich before returning home to Chatham-Kent to share her love of music with the next generation of performers.
