Mount Brydges -  Owls are the focus of the Moonlight Winter Family Hike event at Longwoods Road Conservation Area, Saturday February 15. Pre-registration is mandatory. Admission is:  adults $10, youth 6 to 17 are $5, plus HST, and under 6 are free.

Outdoors

Enjoy a half hour guided moonlit hike through the woods in search of owls. Hikes are at 6:15, 7:00, 7:45, and 8:30 p.m. To pre-register call 519-264-2420 Monday to Friday between 9 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. A bonfire will be blazing for a warm-up, with hot dogs roasting for the kids. Dress for the weather. No dogs and/or cross-country skis please.

Indoors

Come before your hike or stay after to enjoy activities inside the Resource Centre:  At 6:30, 7:30 or 8:30, view Lynn Eves’ presentation from Bluewater Centre for Raptor Rehabilitation. Master Carver George Wickham will display wonderful creations and demonstrate wildlife woodcarving.  Have a bowl of chili and a hot drink (bring bowls, mugs and spoons). Take part in kids’ owl crafts. Watch an owl dvd. View displays. Check-out an owl pellet.

Longwoods is at 8348 Longwoods Road (Middlesex Rd. 2) 6.5 km west of Delaware or 10 km east of Melbourne. Hosted by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Foundation in partnership with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.
