On January 11, just before 4 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers, Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services, Dover Township volunteer fire department and Wallaceburg fire department responded to a fatal motor vehicle collision involving two cars on highway 40 near Heritage Line.
For reasons unknown at this time, a Toyota car travelling south on highway 40 and a Chrysler car traveling north on highway 40, collided.
The female driver of the Chrysler and the female passenger of the Toyota were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries. The male driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.
The OPP traffic collision investigation team is on the scene conducting an investigation.
As the investigation is in the early stages, the road is expected to be closed for several hours while the investigation continues. Traffic is being re-routed at Electric Line and at Baseline Road.
