The Chatham-Kent police have said today that they are still investigating the firebombing that happened on Park Street early Saturday morning. The CKReview broke the story.
Messages to Chief Dennis Poole went unresponded, however Renee Cowell who is the media spokesperson for the Chatham-Kent police told the CKReview that the matter is under investigation. She also said police are labelling the event a suspicious car fire. Police say the fire took place at about 2:45 a.m.
Police estimate the damage to be about $10,000 in the attack.
When asked if residents should fear a gang-war, Cowell replied the incident is under investigation. When asked if the incident was the consequence of a break-up of a relationship, as is rumoured, the same reply that it was under investigation was provided.
Today the police have issued a release asking for the public’s help in solving the crime.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Constable Aaron Medenblik of the Major Crimes Unit at 519-436-6618. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
