Chatham man arrested after trying to sell two snowmobiles he is accused of stealing
A 41-year-old Chatham man has been arrested for stealing an enclosed trailer and two snowmobiles from Lakeshore.
The man tried to sell the trailer and snowmobiles to a Dover Township resident, who were given a sales pitch yesterday. Police were called and they identified the items as having been stolen. They recovered the property and returned it to the owner. The value of the trailer and snowmobiles is over $30,000. Police say the accused thief tried to sell the property for $3,500.
Around 3:30 a.m. this morning, officers identified the man responsible for the theft and he was arrested.
Jason Souligny, 41 years, of Semenyn Avenue in Chatham has been charged with theft over $5000 and possession of stolen property over $5000. He has been released with conditions and a court date.
