A brazen attack on a car on Park Street in the wee hours on Saturday morning destroyed the vehicle.

The silver Chrysler 300 was fire-bombed at about 4 a.m. Neighbours reported it as a white Cadillac.

“I heard a car go by and two seconds later I heard a big bang”, said a neighbour who identified herself as Samara. “I ran over to their house to tell him his car was on fire.”

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported. Local police have made no comment about the fire-bombing. Messages sent to Chief Dennis Poole have not been returned.

    I think that’s a Chrysler 300 though no?

    • Greg Holden

Two people have said it is a Chrysler 300. I am going with that. The witness said it was a Cadillac. I am not a car guy ha.

  • Henrie Timmers

I don’t particularly care what kind of car it was as I am bothered someone would pull this kind of gang war b.s.. in Chatham.

I really want the perpetrators caught and sentenced in such a way that we let people know this is not Detroit or Toronto!

Under no circumstances should anyone wish ” set an example of them ” ( not quoting you , it’s a figure of speech ) upon anyone , at any time , over any circumstance ! I can understand your compassion for what happened. But , let’s go over the facts . It was four in the morning. No one was in the car. No kids playing , no mothers pushing baby buggies ….. as a fair and free thinking man , I would have to ask myself, what does one do to get their car bombed ? Now I can think of many reasons for someone to get their car bombed. None of them are good. But , having some one get punished above and beyond the norm for a crime is completely unjust !! What happens if one of your loved ones has a moment of ” bad decission making ” …… would it be so fair then ? No one needs a reminder that this isn’t Detroit or Toronto . Which are great places to visit and take your family I might add !! How dare you wear that outfit in your picture and make such a bold and completely hippocratical statement ! Have you taught a person who has hurt someone one with the knowledge you shared with them ? If and when it happens, should you not take some responsibility in that situation ? Your comment gives me the impression your a bully. I hope I’m completely wrong about you , if that is you in that picture.

      • Henrie Timmers

Yes, that is me in the picture, Ron. I don’t see how that makes me a bully or a hypocrite.
I teach a lifestyle, which avoids violence more than any other method.
I’m also a father and grandfather, If one of my family did this and claimed a moment of bad decision… I would have no sympathy for them. Losing a vehicle due to a crime means a great financial loss to the owner. What if they need that vehicle to go to work and support their family?
If not punished properly, it will become as socially acceptable as physical violence and internet bullying.
On this subject, we will just have to disagree.

    • Ron Beaulieu

If this is who I think it is….. take this comment down now !! Use your head !!
