At about 2:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, police were called to a Monarch Drive address in Chatham, to investigate an accident.

A vehicle had travelled along Monarch Drive, mounted a curb, slid across a lawn, and struck a parked vehicle in a driveway and then drove off. The damaged vehicle left behind debris at the scene. Later, a citizen was walking on Tasan Crescent when she noticed a damaged blue Chevrolet Cavalier parked at the back of the driveway and immediately called police. An officer attended to investigate and determined that the vehicle had been involved in the collision.

A 19-year-old Chatham man has been charged with careless driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
