A man who police say was continually shouting obscenities at police and staff at the Chatham hospital, was arrested for public drunkenness yesterday.
At 1:20 p.m. yesterday the Chatham-Kent police were called to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in regards to a complaint of a drunk man in the premises.
Upon arrival hospital staff advised officers that an intoxicated and unruly male party had been escorted to a quiet room for his safety and that of the public. While attempting to speak with him, police observed obvious signs of impairment. The man continuously shouted obscenities at officers and staff.
Upon being released from the hospital he was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. He was also held in custody until sober.
