Police have arrested a man in a domestic assault investigation.
On November 28, around 6:30 p.m. a man and woman became involved in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical altercation. It is alleged that the man grabbed the woman by the throat and threw her to the ground. The struggle continued, however the woman was able to break free and call 911.
Police went to the Grand Avenue East residence, however the man fled before they arrived. The woman did not seek medical attention. The 31-year-old Chatham woman also told police about a previous incident of domestic violence.
Yesterday morning, the man turned himself in to police headquarters and he was arrested. The 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault and overcoming resistance to commit an indictable offence. He was transported to the courts for a bail hearing.
