Woman charged for illegally passing a school bus

school busA 20-year-old woman has been charged after passing a stopped school bus on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg on November 27.

On November 27th, Chatham-Kent Police received a complaint that a black car had illegally passed a school bus on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police gave no explanation why it took them until yesterday, however they located the vehicle and charged the driver.

The Chatham-Kent police are reminding motorists they are required by law to stop for a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing. Once all passengers have either gotten on or off the bus, the stop arm will fold away. Do not start moving your motor vehicle until the red lights have stopped flashing and the bus begins to move.

Those drivers who disregard the law and pass a school bus, jeopardize the safety of our young people.
