For the second time over the past few days a police officer has died in Ontario.
A seven-year veteran of the Toronto police, John Zivcic, died today just after 12:30 after being in a serious car accident on Saturday. Zivcic was responding to a call when the accident happened. Zivcic had serious head injuries and multiple surgeries in an attempt to save his life. He passed away with his family at his side. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford called it a sad day in Toronto. “It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Constable John Zivcic. On behalf of the city of Toronto, our thoughts and prayers are with the constable’s family at this difficult time. As a city, we need to offer our support to the family, and to the front line of the Toronto Police Service, who on a daily basis, put their lives on the line to keep us safe”, said Ford.
