Sarnia man charged after gas was stolen from a Chatham station

s police 5A Sarnia man was arrested early this morning after allegedly stealing gasoline from the Pioneer Gas Bar on Richmond Street.

Around 4:30 this morning, police responded to a report of theft from the gas station. A man pulled in and pumped $72 of fuel into his car. The man spoke to the cashier, however drove away making no attempt to pay for the gas. Police had a good description of the man and vehicle. A short time later, an officer on patrol in Wallaceburg saw the vehicle travelling in the area of Baseline Road and Murray Street. After initiating a traffic stop, the man was arrested.

Kyle Thompson, 23 years, of Wiltshire Drive in Sarnia has been charged with theft under $5000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
