Racing on the 401 is costly for Brampton man

OPPA Brampton man has lost his driver’s licence for seven days and had his vehicle impounded for the same length of time after being stopped for going 175 km/h on the 401.

On Friday, December 13, a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement on the 401 near Communication Road.

At about 1 p.m., the officer observed an eastbound BMW vehicle that appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/h. The radar registered a speed of 175 km/h.

Faris Zahid, age 23, from Brampton, has been charged with:

  • Race a Motor Vehicle
  • Follow Too Closely
  • Obstruct Number Plate

His driver’s licence has been suspended and vehicle impounded for seven days.
