Police have arrested a man following a disturbance last week in Chatham.
On December 12, the man was visiting a friend on Timmins Crescent when a physical altercation began. It is alleged that the man broke his friend’s cell phone and assaulted him. As the man fled the residence, he threw a bottle of liquor, smashing the exterior piece of a double pane window. Through investigation, officers learned that the man was also bound by a condition to remain in his residence unless in the presence of his surety.
Yesterday morning, the man turned himself into police headquarters and he was arrested.
The 30-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, two counts of mischief under $5000 and failing to comply. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
