A man in police custody today was arrested for drinking and driving after he had a single vehicle accident with a tree.
The accident took place on Dupuis Avenue near Canal Street West just after 5 a.m. He was not injured and the damage is estimated at $5000.
The 31-year-old man was northbound when he lost control and hit the tree. Police at the scene suspected he had been drinking and he was placed under arrest then taken to headquarters where breath tests showed he was over the limit. He remained in police custody this morning.
