Drunk driver arrested while parked

s police 8The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for impaired driving in Erieau yesterday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m. police received information regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Mariners Road. Officers located the man sitting in his vehicle while still in control of his van. Through investigation, the officer believed that the driver was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested. The driver was transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

Dennis Barber, 57 years, of Towanda Boulevard in Harwich Township has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. He has been released pending a future court date.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service are reminding drivers that your vehicle does not even have to be moving; you can be charged if you are impaired behind the wheel, even if you have not started to drive.
