Driver suspended for life caught driving on Grand Ave. W.

s police 8On December 17 around 2:45 p.m. police stopped a car on Grand Avenue West in Chatham when it was discovered the licence plate did not match the car it was attached to.

The officer learned that the driver is suspended from driving for life as a result of many drinking and driving convictions. He was also suspended from driving for other reasons and did not have insurance.

A 63-year-old Chatham man has been charged with:

  • driving while disqualified
  • possession of property obtained by a crime
  • two counts of driving while under suspension
  • using plates not authorized for the vehicle
  • driving without insurance
  • failing to surrender the ownership
  • use validation not furnished for vehicle
  • failing to apply for permit on becoming owner.

The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
