A Dresden woman and her family were startled Sunday evening when eating supper and smoke started to billow out from their Christmas tree.

Sue Simmons said, “We were sitting having dinner when we smelled something burning. (We) Searched the house checking all cords and warmers. Then we noticed our Christmas lights were smoking and almost caught fire!”

Simmons says she bought the lights at Wal-Mart.

According to Simmons a huge stream of black smoke could be seen coming from her tree. “We never leave our (Christmas tree) lights on, when we are not home. It was scary.”
