Arrest made on the 401 for drinking and driving

OPPOn Friday, December 13, just after 1 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped a Ford pickup truck on the 401 eastbound near Kennesserie Road.

While officers were speaking with the driver, 35-year-old Daniel Cormier, from North Middlesex, it was determined that he had consumed alcohol.

Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham Court on Friday, January 3, 2014, to answer to the following charges:

  • Drive Over The Legal Limit
  • Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle With Liquor Readily Available
  • Speeding and Fail to Surrender Licence

Chatham-Kent OPP are reminding drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road, arrive safely.
