Accused thief arrested after failing to show for court

s police1The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

On September 11, police saw a man driving a dirt bike, with no helmet, on the sidewalk over the Lacroix Street bridge. Police followed the man until he stopped at a residence on Inshes Avenue. After an investigation police learned that the man was suspended from driving and that the dirt bike was stolen.

Ryan Caron, 24, of McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000
  • Two counts of driving while under suspension
  • Failing to wear a proper helmet on a motorcycle
  • Unlawfully driving an off-road vehicle on a highway
  • Operating a motor vehicle over a sidewalk

Caron failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Yesterday morning, he was located on Grand Avenue West in Chatham and arrested on the outstanding warrant. He was released pending a future court date.
