Accidents keep police busy

s police 3Around 4:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon, police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Fifth Street in Chatham.

An 18-year-old Kingsville man was travelling on Fifth Street when he turned left on King Street West in front of a vehicle being driven by a 51-year-old Dover Township woman. Neither driver was injured. Total damages were estimated at $6000.

The man was charged with making a left turn while failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.

Shortly after 7 p.m. last night, police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Erieau Road.

A 39-year-old Harwich Township man was travelling on Erieau Road when he lost control of his vehicle, slid off the roadway and struck a hydro pole. The man was not injured. Damage was estimated at $3000.

The man was charged with careless driving.
