Male youth shoots ex-girlfriend with BB gun on the street

policelogoJust before 9 p.m. last night a brutal assault took place on the streets of Chatham. A 15-year-old girl was shot three times in the head, once in the mouth. Her 16-year-old ex-boyfriend saw her on the street walking with her friends when an argument took place about their infant child. The argument escalated and the male punched his ex-girlfriend in the back. Then he pulled out a BB gun and shot her in the mouth. He began to run away and as he did he continued firing, hitting her twice more in the face.

She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance where she is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly after 9 p.m. police found the male youth and he was arrested. The BB gun was also seized as evidence. The 16-year-old Chatham youth has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He has been held in custody and has a bail hearing this morning.

Thank God he didn’t have access to a real firearm, he would have killed her.

Hope all is well for her, and glad that he has been picked up and charged. Please keep your distance from him sweetie, it’s not worth losing your life and your child’s life to this low life. Your better off without him till at least he grows up and knows how to treat women especially the mother of his child. Be safe and hope for a speedy recovery girl XX

well im glad shes ok but if she has an infant child what is she doing roaming the streets that time of night ,all these young kids are spitting them out and then just dumping them and going out to have another, hopefully welfare looks into this i mean 15 and a mum and shes still roaming at night , what about staying home and looking after the infant, not saying she shouldnt go out but when you have bub dont go looking for another so soon look after the one you have, not excusing him but at 16 he is still a child himself ,and probably thought the same ,except he is to immature to be able to think properly and resolve issues non violently,i feel for the poor bub what great parents to have i hope bubs life is much better than theirs

I can’t believe how ignorant you are…I have an infant baby as well and guess what, sometimes it’s ok to go out, no matter what age. Don’t be so prejudice towards a young girl. She goes out with friends so she’s going out to get pregnant again.. give me a break! You don’t know her situation so who the F*&^ are you to judge her!!!!!???????

It’s not just the girl that was out at that time of Night. You make it sound like it was her fault. It takes two to make a baby, not just the young girl. You don’t know she was out looking to have another, maybe she was working until nine or had to get some milk for the child. I hate it when people always blame the girl.
