Accident on Bearline Road sends one to hospital

Dodge Caravan on Bearline Road after accident. October 10 2013

By Greg Holden

An accident just before noon today has sent one man to hospital after he was extricated from his vehicle.

The accident happened on Bearline Road, just north of Belle Rose Line. Debris littered Bearline Road after the accident. Police said the debris was from the contents of a trailer, which looked like it exploded. A Dodge Grand Caravan had it’s front bumper ripped off. It was the driver of that van that was injured. The trailer was hitched to a pick-up truck that was undamaged.

Update: The Chatham-Kent police say a 45-year-old Maidstone woman was traveling northbound on Bearline Road while pulling a trailer. The trailer became unhooked from her vehicle and crossed into the southbound lane striking an oncoming vehicle being driven by a 37-year-old Croton man.

The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance via ambulance and later transferred to a London hospital with serious injuries.

Total damage was estimated at $25,000.

The woman has been charged with having an insecure load.
