On September 26th, a five-month long drug investigation was concluded by members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service intelligence section. This investigation targeted individuals involved in trafficking illicit drugs specifically methamphetamine (speed) and Fentanyl. As a result of the investigation 28 people have been arrested and charged with over 100 criminal offences. Fentanyl is sometimes called the new Oxycontin.
During the project officers executed seven search warrants at various homes throughout Chatham-Kent.
Police seized; 52.2 grams of methamphetamine, 530 mg of Fentanyl, 35.75 grams of cocaine, 30 grams of marijuana, three marijuana plants, one gram of psilocybin(magic mushrooms). The street value of drugs seized is estimated at $17,160. Police also seized $6,970.00 in cash.
