Teen seriously injured after falling off pick-up truck

Around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision in a corn field on Snobelen Road just south of Jenner Road in Harwich Township.

A 14-year-old male youth from Raleigh Township was sitting on the tail gate of a pick-up truck when the tail gate opened and the youth fell to the ground as the truck was reversing in the field. The youth was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and later air-lifted to a London hospital with serious injuries.

The three other male youths, also corn detasselers, in the vehicle at the time of the incident were not physically injured.

This collision remains under investigation.
