Safety blitz on trucks underway

Ontario’s annual inspection blitz of large trucks, buses and motor coaches is underway today. It is the 25th year for the safety blitz in Ontario.

Spot checks run from June 4 to June 6 with truck, bus and motor coach inspections taking place at inspection sites along major highways in Canada and the United States. Inspectors will randomly check for:

  • correct driver qualifications
  • properly secured cargo
  • mechanical fitness
  • complete daily inspection reports and logs

More than 55,000 bus and truck companies exist in Ontario, which conducts more bus and truck inspections than any other province. More than $1.2 trillion in goods are moved by trucks on Ontario roads every year.
