Police have charged a man with assault after he punched one police officer and spit on another.
This morning just after 4 a.m. police were called to a business on St. Clair Street about an unwanted man. When police arrived he had left the store, but officers had a description and found him on St. Clair near Brock Street. While talking to the man, he threw a punch that connected to the face of the officer. He then spit on the other officer.
The man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. The officers did not need medical attention.
The 21-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer. He is in custody waiting for a bail hearing.
