Toronto teacher caught driving 146 km/h with 12 students in vehicle

On March 3 at 11:36 a.m., the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a white Chevrolet passenger van travelling on highway 401 westbound, near Merlin Town Line, at a high speed.

There were 12 student passengers on board, all heading to a basketball tournament in Windsor. The driver Paul Melnik, a 44-year-old Toronto man and a teacher at Father Henry Carr Secondary School, has been charged with driving with an improper class of licence and speeding. He was going 146 km/hr in a 100km/hr zone.
