Argument leads to two people being charged

Police have charged a man following a disturbance in Chatham last night.

Shortly after 8 p.m. police responded to a domestic disturbance on Baldoon Road. At the time a 17-year-old girl and 20-year-old man were engaged in a verbal argument. It is alleged that when the girl’s 51-year-old father attended the residence earlier in the night, a physical altercation resulted in the 20-year-old man assaulting the father by pushing him into a wall. The father did not need medical attention.

Police arrested the 17-year-old girl for being intoxicated and the 20-year-old man for assault. The girl was held in custody until sober and released to her mother. The man has been released with conditions pending a future court date of February 20.
