Friendly stranger causes concern in Thamesville

policelogoThe Chatham-Kent police are looking for information regarding a report of a suspicious man last week in Thamesville.

On Wednesday, January 16 a grade three student was approached by a man while she was walking home after school in Thamesville. The man had a friendly conversation with the young girl, who did not know him, raising concern for caregivers of the girl.

Public information officer for the Chatham-Kent police, Renee Cowell, spoke to the CKReview and said, “There is no indication an offence has occurred in this incident. However we are taking every precaution to ensure the public’s safety.”

The man is described as white, tall, thin, about 20-years-old with short dark hair. He was carrying a small blue and white plastic cooler at the time of the incident.

The police have also issued a statement that advises how to teach children to be safe in such circumstances.
