A man was charged with drug possession during a R.I.D.E. stop on Wednesday. Police say an officer was able to detect a strong odour of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the driver handed over a small amount of marijuana. He was charged with possession of the drug and released at the scene.
600 vehicles were pulled over during the first day of the annual campaign. No charges for drinking and driving were laid, although three roadside tests were carried out.

wow and the officer wasted his time for some cannabis …. I thought RIDE stops were about reducing impaired driving not check points to perform unwarranted search and seizures of cannabis… Seriously CKPD get over the weed it’s just a fucking plant and we all smoke it, half the cops on the force smoke it, I know people who play hockey with cops, and smoke with them after the game, I’ve had police seize my cannabis and REFUSE to charge me .. why? because they are going to go smoke the shit, not put in evidence, so stop with the fucking hypocrisy show the government it’s a stupid law and STOP ENFORCING IT!
