Man in jail after domestic assault

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a domestic disturbance last night in Dover Township.

Just before midnight on Wednesday, a woman called police to report an incident of domestic violence.  It is alleged:

- A verbal argument ensued between the woman and her husband while at their residence

- A physical altercation began as the man grabbed the woman and pushed her

- Prior to the woman leaving the residence, the man grabbed the woman’s cell phone and smashed in on the ground

- The woman suffered minor injuries

A 42-year-old Dover Township man has been charged with assault and mischief under $5000. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
