Toronto man arrested for luring Chatham teen

A Toronto man has been charged with luring a Chatham teen on the internet.

The Chatham-Kent police, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, made the arrest in Chatham. The Toronto man had come to Chatham to meet the teen.

The investigation began in May when the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information that a Toronto man was attempting to lure a 15-year-old Chatham-Kent girl through internet communications for a sexual purpose.

On September 23 the Chatham-Kent Police Service intercepted the male as he arrived to meet the child. Sarmed E. George, 30 years, of Toronto has been arrested and charged with Luring. He was released with a future court date.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to ensure that there are no other victims. Anyone with information regarding Sarmed GEORGE or his alias’ ‘hondas1982’ or ‘san sam’ is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit at 519-436-6616. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
