A Chatham resident is out over $70,000 after being victimized by an online dating scam.
Police are warning citizens not to send money to persons they are not familiar with and to contact the police immediately if they suspect that they have been defrauded.
On September 21 a Chatham-Kent resident reported to the Chatham-Kent police they believe they had been the victim of a fraud. Over the past two months this citizen wired the money into a bank account in England for a person they had met through an online social dating network.
