Chatham-Kent firefighters knocked down a pick-up truck fire this afternoon at a property neighbouring the Oil Heritage Museum near Bothwell.
Just before 1:00 p.m. August 29 2012, Chatham-Kent Fire Station9 in Bothwell was called out for a vehicle fire at 29771 7 Zone Line. The pick-up was originally reported to be near oil wells, but with the arrival of unit 9-11 from Bothwell it was realized that the fire was not in proximity to the wells. The pick-up did how ever have gasoline cans in the rear. This posed as a potentially very dangerous situation for the firefighters.
After the arrival of C-K Fire the blaze was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
According to C-K Police on scene; the owner of the pick-up was using a saw near the vehicle, and a spark appeared to have ignited the fire.
Early estimates place damages at $25,000.
