Joel Plaskett rocks Capitol Theatre for Indiefest

By James Browning

This past weekend The Culture Factory flooded our city with great Indie music by hosting Indiefest, which headlined Joel Plaskett & the Emergency.

I can’t say I knew much about Joel Plaskett before his performance at the St. Clair Capitol Theatre or even heard much of his music. But what I can tell you is he has acquired a new fan. Joel put on a fantastic show Saturday night and had fans up out of their seats dancing. Joel’s sound is definitely unique and strikes similarities to classic rock, his east coast roots, a bit of soul and a real focus on vocals. His performance was well appreciated by the crowd and came back out for a two song encore.

It truly was a great experience and I will be sure to catch Joel Plaskett and the Emergency again next time, and be able to sing along.

Culture Factory is a summer-long multidisciplinary arts festival that brings together musicians and artists of all kinds, to perform and exhibit throughout the downtowns of Chatham-Kent. Please check them out at http://www.culturefactory.ca/
