The 4th annual Erieau Partnership Association Fishing Derby was held in Erieau on Saturday August 11. Kids 15 and under were able to fish for fun, and prizes.
This years event was put on with Aaron and Damon Srokosz at the helm, and may others backing them. While there are too many sponsors to name, Chatham-Kent Insurance Brokers Associations, Winmar, and the Blenheim Branch of DPM Insurance were huge contributors to this years derby.
Aaron Srokosz said that the event is put on every year for the children. Srokosz stated that the money raised at this years derby will go towards improving next years event. Srokosz said that $1000 was spent on this years event, purchasing prizes, renting a prota potty, and renting an inflatable Bouncy Castle. Srokosz said that he expects the fishing derby to get larger each year, noting that there was already a good turn out of participants early on in the day.
Several of the volunteers who helped organize and run the derby were members of the Chatham-Kent Fire Department from Blenheim and Erieau. Many parents, children, and volunteers were happy to be taking part in an event geared strictly for the children.
