Correction - Man arrested not involved with assault on cab driver

Thursday afternoon The CK Review mistakenly reported that a 25 -year-old man arrested by O.P.P. was connected to the assault on a cab driver on Walpole Island, this suspect was arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants. The Chatham-Kent Police Service had reported that the man was connected to the cab driver incident.

“I’ve since spoken with Lambton OPP Constable John Reurink who assures me no charges relating to the case have been laid at this time. He says at this point the 25-year-old man picked up CK Police (on behalf of the OPP) was arrested for unrelated outstanding warrants.” - Bob Becken

The Walpole First Nation Police with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch and Lambton OPP are investigating an assault that occurred on Squirrel Island.

In the early morning hours of July 8, 2012, a cab driver from Cadillac Cabs was assaulted and sustained life threatening injuries.

He was located shortly after 7:00 am and police were contacted. The cab driver was air lifted to London Health Sciences Centre where he remains in critical condition.
