Communities in Bloom preparing bus tour

Communities in Bloom’s (CiB) Week of Excellence is July 22 – 28 and the entire community is once again being asked to show off Chatham-Kent at its very best!

As a past national winner, Chatham-Kent is entered into the Circle of Excellence, a CiB category in which participants must provide evidence that the community as a whole is still actively engaged in CiB in order to maintain its status. The ongoing activities of CiB committee volunteers, summer students, service groups, the business community, and municipal staff are all taken into consideration and therefore everyone is busy making preparations for this season’s CK CiB Bus Tour.

This Tour of Excellence will treat the public to a glimpse of what the national judges deemed to be Canada’s best in 2010 and why the municipality has received the provincial CiB ‘Green for Life’- Park Award in 2011, along with international recognition for Heritage Conservation (2011), overall Tidiness (2009), Best Community of Gardeners (2006) and a top “5 Bloom” rating since 2005.

Limited seats are still available. Call 519.360.1998 to reserve yours today!

“Chatham-Kent has so much to be proud of,” said Communities in Bloom Coordinator Monica Moore, “and preparing to showcase a cross-section of all eight CiB judging criteria is an excellent way to bring that to light – not only for visitors and those passing through, but for those of us fortunate enough to call this community home.”

As the July 22 – 28 CiB Week of Excellence is quickly approaching, Chatham-Kent CiB is encouraging everyone to chip in. By simply picking up any litter, eliminating curb and sidewalk weeds, watering hanging baskets, planters and flowers, and trimming lawns you can help validate Chatham-Kent’s National CiB Winner’s image!

“Let’s all get out there. Be a part of people planting pride in Chatham-Kent!”, said Moore.
