Man puts girlfriend in a headlock

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a domestic incident Sunday in Wallaceburg.

At about 11:00 a.m. police responded to a residence on Murray Street in regards to a domestic disturbance. At this time the victim reported that she had been assaulted following a verbal altercation. It is alleged that the man placed the woman in a headlock. The man subsequently threw a ball cap at the woman striking her on the right side of her face, causing redness and swelling.

The 18-year-old woman was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical treatment.

Through investigation police learned that the man had previously assaulted the woman on other occasions.

A 19-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault (x3), assault with a weapon and uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
