Chatham police release phone numbers of suspect
After recently investigating several break and enter incidents into residential properties, primarily in the northwest and southwest quadrants of Chatham, a pattern was identified that leads police to believe the thief is using a cell phone to call homes and find out if anyone is there. Police say over 2000 calls have been made to homes in Chatham and the caller keeps on calling repeatedly to ensure no-one is home.
The calls are more frequent between 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The cell phone accounts are linked to fake names or to people who have had their identity stolen. The calls appear on your telephone display as private name, private number or blocked number.
The numbers that have been identified so far and all are on pre-paid accounts. The numbers are being released in the hopes that members of the public will come forward with information. The numbers are:
