Bike rodeo in Blenheim
A bike rodeo in Blenheim on Saturday was held to promote safety for young cyclists. Organized by local neighbourhood watch representative Mary Lou Beaune in conjunction with the Chatham-Kent police, children were advised on proper bicycle safety equipment and riding skills. Lined chalk on the asphalt acted as guides meant to emulate bicycle lanes. About a dozen young people heard on topics like how to properly fit a helmet, how to signal intentions and their responsibilities as users of the road.
Hot dogs and drinks were provided by the local Optimists Club. Beaune said she was pleased with the results of the 1st year event and that she planned to organize the event for next year as well.
